Character Design Part 2

This is the other character for my lipsync project. The bear who kicks the rooster's ass.

Character Design

Here's the beak character that I'm doing for my lipsync assignment. It's based on a friend of mine and inspired by a situation that took place at the local pub nite. Muzzle character / coloured version coming soon.

Scare Tactics

These are some pages from my conceptual design pack for my little short from last semester entitled "Scare Tactics". The three main characters, of which were required to be a human, muzzled character and a beak character.
These are the three I came up with and I'll be posting some work on how I got to them soon.

Characters

Here are a few character designs that I've done. Just playing around in Alias' Sketchbook Pro and the other ones are drawn with a little thumbnail study for a possible animation...just posing.

Oh joyous Day.

So, I'm assuming that all art/animation afficianados reading this blog have heard about the Disney/Pixar merger. Quite possibly the greatest thing to happen to animation in a long time.
I'm working on my lipsync characters right now, so I'll post up some designs for that very, very soon.
In the meantime, here are some quick gesture sketches I did of my silly lil dog, Sparky (reeeeal orignal name) in brush pen on regular sketchbook paper.

Miscellaneous Characters and a Dancing Girl

This is a page from my old sketchbook, I really don't like any of the drawings on it except for the dancing girl at the bottom left corner. But I thought to post the whole page in it's entirety.

Doodle

Just some miscellaneous sketchbook stuff.
Nothing special.

Character Design Part 3

This is the other character designed for my character design project. The tooth fairy. A fat tooth fairy, generally jolly, is taken for quite the spin when she encounters little Hayley who will do anything to get the most out of the tooth fairy - who raises quite the ruckus to get what she wants.

Character Design Part 2

This is a character I designed partly for my leica reel/story reel project last semester - as well as for a character design assignment for two contrasting characters, the second part was a fat tooth fairy, which I'll post at a later time. Added some links to the side - go check them out, they're all worth it.
Things are generally alright school wise. The workload hasn't picked up as it inevitably will.
Watched a really, really bad 70s movie called "Slaughter in San Francisco" starring Chuck Norris as a druglord named...Chuck Norris. It was just...BAD. Chuck is one hairy mother....
Nightmares are going to be full of hairy chests and roundhouse kicks to the face.

Character Design

Here is the first assignment for my character design class last semester. The project was to design a character for an animation assignment of a character lifting something heavy, struggling and then tossing it. I designed a stork lifting a baby that turned out to be a bomb. I will post the animation soon, once I get the AVI working and figure out how to shrink it without the flipbook file...result of the ultimate infamous hard drive crash of 2005. Ugh.

Birthday Card

front

inside

Sorry for the lack of posts in the last couple days, it's been a bit...hectic.
Anyways, here's a birthday card I did for a friend who's birthday is right around christmas. She's got a well-deserved fascination with zombies, if that explains the content of the card.
I scanned it pre-writing in it, the captions read,

front: "For your birthday, I bought you a zombie..."
inside: "But he exploded...sorry."

Used pencil to draw and watercolour to colour it in on Cardstock.

Comments appreciated.

Christmas Card Sketch

This is a quick sketch I did for a christmas card that I never actually got around to doing...after toying around with a bunch of ideas, this is the one that seemed the best to me.

Cutout Girl

Here's a little experiment I did in the summertime shortly after attending TCAF. Bought a book by an artist named Leslie Stein called "Yeah! It is!" and the technique she employs for her comic book is using construction paper, scissors/utlilty knives and glue. She really inspired me to try it out so I took a sketch I had done and made a cutout version of it. I think it came out pretty decent...it was fun and interesting to do too! I'd love to try some more stuff in the future the same way. Hope you like! Sorry for the crappy scan...my scanner tends to do the grays on the image when i'm scanning out of my sketchbook...I hate it.

FahrenCAT

So here's an idea my friend Jon thought of last year while we were having some coffee over at Williams....its called Fahrencat, about a cat that's constantly on fire...and the wacky adventures that ensue. I'm aware that he's not on fire right now...but I'm toying with it...
Anyway, hope you enjoy, and feel free to leave comments.
