FINALLY....

Much overdue pictures from my trip to California, I had my reasons for not posting them, but I don't care anymore. :) Anyone wants their picture(s) removed, feel free to contact me. This was most definitely the best trip and most exciting 5 days of my life. No exaggeration, as you will clearly see. I don't have any pictures from Dreamworks and Sony, which I also visited, as we weren't even allowed to take pictures from the outside of the campus.

At the con, I met a bunch of other amazing talents, unfortunately, I couldn't get pictures of them due to the copious amounts of people on the Saturday and Sunday. Everyone was super-nice and was more than willing to talk for a few minutes. Some of the other geniuses I met were (in no particular order):
Chris Sonnenburg, John Nevarez, Jose Lopez, Patrick Morgan, Nash Dunnigan, Michael Knapp, Dice Tsutsumi, George Broderick, Clay Katis, Dave Pimentel, Ovi Nedelcu, Kazu Kibuishi, Kean Soo, Courtney Huddleston, Mark Andrews, Ted Mathot, Bill Presing, Mike Mignola, Brian Wood, Sean Galloway, Dean Yeagle, Scott Tolleson, Gary Ham, Rodolphe Guenoden, Eren Blanquet and the Hard 8 gang, Michel Gagne, Mike Mattesi, Steven Silver, Joe Moshier, and a ton of others.

About an hour after this, I was at Dreamworks visiting a friend and checking out the campus where I got to meet an amazing bunch of people including: Jenny Lerew, Jenn Hager, Dave Pimental, and of course, good ol' Jenn Kluska. After checking out dreamworks, I went to Disney Publishing and saw an original desk used by animation legend Floyd Gottfriedson and original model sheets from Fantasia by Freddie Moore of the Centaurettes. (For more on Freddie Moore, check out Jenny's blog, The Blackwing Diaries) And got to meet Ken Shue, the head of Disney Publishing. The day after Dreamworks and Disney, I headed over to Sony Pictures Animation to visit another friend. Where we ran into (completely by chance) another person who was touring the studio - Bill Nighy - the man who played Davy Jones in Pirates of the Carribean 2 this summer.
I saw a lot of stuff from the new movie(s) coming out...and that's all I'm gonna say. :P

Library People and Film Noir

So I went to the library yesterday to check out some books on film noir, as I'm working on something involving it and have been watching quite a few movies from that era. Humphrey Bogart is a badass. The attitude and class was completely and utterly different in that era. It's hard to get enough.
While at the library, I got the books I needed and saw some very interesting people around that I felt like drawing. These are the results. I'll be posting some more film noir inspired stuff tomorrow as well...I have, well, tons.

Comments and crits appreciated.

More Sharpie Doodles

Here are some more sharpie doodles, thanks to everyone for visiting my blog - and thanks to John Nevarez for linking me, I've had a bit more traffic than usual. The tractor is from the drive around town..a little more out of the way than usual...it didn't upload in the last post - guess I must've reached the limit of maximum pictures allowed.
I'd love to hear what you think of these doodles...thanks to everyone who's commented so far.

sharpie doodles

huzzah....a new post.
some "sharpie" sketches/doodles done in sketchbook pro. Also, I'd love to hear some comments from whoever is checking out this blog - however harsh or whatever they may be.
Some of these were when I took the tablet out as we went for a drive out into the farm country. That's where that truck is from..good ol' John Deere.
More crap coming soon - it's been tough to get in the right headspace to draw these days...too much going on.

hope you enjoy these!

coffee girl and sketches

These sketches are all done on the tablet PC. Just experimenting with the new technology and playing around with the different features - the first was done at Starbucks and the other two were just playing around. - i was experimenting with a new blind contour type of style. Any crits and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Jester

Here's a quick rough animation I did of a jester on a tablet pc. So no paper was used. Too about two hours, and was a LOT of fun.
I'm going to do more - try for one every 2-3 days.
Comments and crits welcome!

BACK from California!

So I am BACK from California, and man oh man. It was probably the best 5 days of my life. I don't think I could've asked for anything more... I got to meet some unbelievable people who I thought I'd never meet - at least not until I was well into the industry, saw some stuff that was for sensitive eyes and learned so much in the few days that I was down there that I'm still attempting to take in and absorb everything that I learned. Hence the lack of posting - I'll post some pictures up from my trip in a little bit, but in the meantime, I've been messing around with a tablet pc, and these are the results.

Comments and crits are greatly appreciated and encouraged!!
